Symptoms that you need to restart the Device Service include:

  1. You cannot connect to the Iris CM using Motion Monitor, but you can connect using Remote Desktop
  2. A camera or cameras is unresponsive or does not show a Live image
  3. The system is not working as expected


To restart the service on the Iris CM or Edge:


1. Remote desktop into the Iris CM or use a key board, mouse and monitor.
2. Click on the two gears on the task bar. 
3. Find "RDI Device Server" 


4. Now click Restart the service. This will Stop and Restart in one step.
5. Wait for it to indicate Running in the Status column.
6. Now go back to Motion Monitor (MM) and see if it connects to the CM and that you can see the camera's view. You may need to close MM and reopen. 



Set the IP address for the Ethernet to USB dongle to static:

  1. Search for “View Network Connections”
  2. Right-click on connection labeled “Realtek USB GbE Family Controller” and click properties
  3. Select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and click properties.
  4. Select the bottom bubble in the top group for "Use the following IP address:" and set the IP address to 192.168.3.250, Subnet will default to 255.255.255.0, Set Default Gateway to 192.168.3.1.  Optionally, set Preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8.
  5. The last octet, xxx.250 was chosen because it is not likely to collide with other IPs.  If the IP Address chosen for the server is 250, it will collide.
  6. Click Ok
    Click Close
    Click Close


Connect Ethernet cable to the dongle. The other end of the Ethernet cable should plug into the middle port on the Iris CM. Alternatively, it can be plugged into a network that the Iris CM is currently connected to.
